Reconstructive Surgery
Reconstructive Surgery is, in a broad sense, the use of surgery to restore the form and function of the body.
ENT Surgeons, Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Plastic Surgeons perform reconstructive surgery for congenital ear deformities, facial trauma, and the restoration of anatomical structures of the head-neck district after oncological demolitive surgery.
This branch aims to functionally repair defects in various ear tissues, both congenital and acquired (due to trauma, accidents, diseases, previous surgeries).
At the Gruppo Otologico, the following procedures fall under this branch:
- reconstructive surgery of the auricle in microtia;
- protruding ears (commonly known as “bat ears”);
- reconstruction of the Cranial Base;
- reconstructions for tumors of the Head-Neck district.
Patient Preparation
No special preparation rules are required for the patient, but the doctor may advise bringing all documentation regarding other in-depth examinations to be performed (magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography – CT, etc.).
