The anatomical dissection laboratory of the temporal bone is named after Dr. William House, one of the pioneers of Otological and Cranial Base surgery and former director of the “House Ear Clinic” in Los Angeles, where Prof. Mario Sanna completed part of his surgical training.<\/span><\/p>\n

The anatomical dissection laboratory, set up within the premises of the Gruppo Otologico, is state-of-the-art and active throughout the year.
It features 14 stations, each equipped with a Carl Zeiss microscope with an additional eyepiece for observation, Bein Air drills, an aspiration-irrigation device, and dissection instruments, allowing for the practice of Otological and Skull Base surgery.<\/p>\n

There is a temporal bone bank with over 100 petrous ridges and half heads, with a refrigeration and preservation system for all dissection samples.
Additionally, there are cabinets, sinks, shelves, dissection gowns, and protective equipment such as gloves, caps, and masks.<\/p>\n

A 50-inch monitor is available in the room to view the tutor’s dissection or surgical educational videos.<\/p>\n

The William House dissection laboratory has become a teaching center for all members of the Otological Group; over 500 trainees and fellows from all over the world have trained in our 60 courses organized over the past 20 years.<\/p>\n
